Lots of ski areas have been trying to sell the option of people who can work remotely spending longer in resort during the pandemic for a perfect balance of work and leisure.
Now Italy’s Courmayeur has taken things up a notch by launching a brand-new smart working initiative, inviting online workers to ‘live-like-a-local’ with their very own ‘workation station’ now available.
“Digital nomads can enjoy the serenity of the majestic Mont Blanc, hit the slopes for some fresh mountain air and exercise and experience a more motivated working relationship and healthier lifestyle,” said a spokesperson for the resort, adding, “Early risers can start their day with a ‘zoom’ down the slopes before their first ‘zoom’ meeting.”
Courmayeur has designed a selection of alpine offices, all fully equipped with comfortable working spaces and high-speed WiFi. Along with various accommodation/office packages, a brand-new workspace has also been designed in the spectacular Skyway Monte Bianco. Remote-workers can invest in a ‘Skyway Smart-Working Ticket’ which includes the option of a lunchtime ski and coffee available on demand.
As part of this new scheme, Courmayeur has partnered with Superstuff, a digital design company that creates bespoke designs, gadgets and installations. Superstuff is producing a colourful army of Courmayeur-branded Umarells – a figurine of a male retiree, standing with his hands behind his back and watching over the construction of new projects.
“This has been curated to inspire smart workers to be productive at the resort – working hard but playing hard too,” the resort spokesperson said.
