Second World Championships Gold for Team GB

Britain’s Charlotte Bankes and Huw Nightingdale have taken the gold medal in the Team snowoard Cross competition at the Snowboard, Freestyle and Freeski World Championships currently taking place in Bakuriani, Georgia.

The duo won their quarter and semi final ties before their historic win.

It’s an unprecedented second gold for Team GB with Mia Brookes becoming the youngest world champion in snowboarding history at the age of 16 earlier this week taking slopestyle gold after  landing the first Cab 1440 double grab in a women’s event.

Bankes, who had already posted two World Cup wins this season, had failed in her bid to defend her solo cross title earlier in Championships when she crashed out in the first heat and Nightingale had also failed to make it past the first round in the men’s competition.
